Jon Nathenson, our Umpire in Chief at NPLL, will be conducting an umpire training session for base umpiring on a small diamond field (Minors Division) on Friday September 29, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Morley Field on Field 4. 

This training session is open to anybody who is interested in learning how to umpire including players age 11 and up.  It is an interactive training that requires you to actively perform the umpire mechanics, and so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for moving around comfortably.  As noted below, this training session is one of the mandatory training sessions that will be offered to all prospective managers and coaches in the Minors Division for the Spring Season. 

The BOD of NPLL has approved a proposal to implement an umpire training program that will require anybody who is considering being a coach or manager during the 2024 Spring Season to attend three separate training sessions involving three different facets of umpiring (base umpiring, plate umpiring and rules).  It is a mandatory requirement, and thus in order to be considered and approved by the BOD as a coach or manager in the Spring Season, you must have attended all three separate training sessions by the start of the regular season.  Each of these separate training sessions will be offered in the months of September, October, November, January and February (if necessary).  If you are not sure whether you are interested in coaching or managing in the Minors Division, it is highly recommended that you attend the required training sessions so that you will be certified in the event you do make that decision to coach or manage as the season approaches."
