IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS
NPLL is an all-volunteer organization, from the Board of Directors to the part-time helpers. Even though no one is paid, the safety and well-being of our kids is paramount. The following are required by Little League International and/or the State of California.
Whether you are a team manager/head coach, assistant coach, or only plan to help once and a while, please complete the following to ensure you are Little League compliant. If you are not sure whether you’ll be helping or not, we encourage you to complete the one-time trainings anyway.
All volunteers must complete the following BEFORE working with any kids:

1. MANDATORY BACKGROUND CHECKS
| Background checks are a yearly requirement for any adult who has contact with the players, which includes: - Managers and coaches
- Team parent
- Umpires (including visiting District umpires)
- Scorekeepers and pitch-counters
- Board Members
- Any adult who assists with a practice or other team event - even if only once
To Volunteer: Register or sign into your NPLL account and select “Volunteer” or visit the Volunteer Requirements page and “Sign Up” (bottom of page). Once registered on the NPLL website as a Volunteer, you will be sent a background check request.
All volunteers must have an NPLL Account and background checks and other volunteer requirements are handled and tracked through the system. |
2. MANDATORY CDC CONCUSSION TRAINING
| CDC Concussion Training is mandatory for all youth sports, but it only needs to be completed once in your life. Click here: MANDATORY CDC CONCUSSION TRAINING
Click “Launch the Heads-Up Course” on right and follow the prompts to complete the training.
A copy of the completion certificate must be UPLOADED* to your account and must be in the Manager/Coaches binder. Save a digital copy in the event you need to re-print it again since it is good for life. If you don't meet this requirement, the umpire or the site administrator may remove you from the dugout.
If you have already completed this training, please upload a copy to your account and provide a copy of the certificate to your team’s manager. You can access a previously earned certificate by logging in through the link above. |
3. SAFE SPORT ABUSE TRAINING
| Safe Sport Abuse Training is mandatory for all youth sports, but it only needs to be completed once in your life. Click here: SAFE SPORT ABUSE TRAINING
Click “Add to Cart” and “Proceed to Checkout” and follow the prompts to create an account and complete the training.
A copy of the completion certificate must be UPLOADED* to your account and must be in the Manager/Coaches binder. 4. SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST TRAINING | Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training is mandatory for all youth sports. It needs to be completed once in your life. Click here: SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST TRAINING
Select your state and click “Order Course”; follow the prompts to create an account and to “purchase” the training (for $0, no payment information will be collected).
A copy of the completion certificate must be UPLOADED* to your account and must be in the Manager/Coaches binder. Save a digital copy in the event you need to re-print it again since it is good for life. If you don't meet this requirement, the umpire or the site administrator may remove you from the dugout.
